Featuring back-to-back par threes at the 3rd and 4th holes, the 9-hole course at Golfklúbbur Selfoss is laid out on the banks of the Ölfusá river, where golfers enjoy stunning views of the nearby Ingolfsfjall mountain.

Architect Edwin Roald told us: “I have designed various changes to the club’s existing 9-hole course in recent years. This includes three new holes, replacing three older ones, in connection with a new highway.

I am also designing their expansion to 18 holes, which is expected to be ready in 2026. This means that only six original holes will remain, and we have already made changes to some of these”.

From the club’s formation in 1971 until 2014 golf at this location was always insecure but a change in land ownership to the local community allows the club to plan an expansion of the layout, along with providing other recreational activities such as hiking and horse riding, all of which will benefit local inhabitants and visitors.
