Located close to the meandering waters of the St. Mary River in the heart of the Kootenay Rockies, Shadow Mountain Golf Course is a Graham Cooke design that first opened for play in 2009. Stretching to 7,405 yards from the back markers, the layout plays to a par of 72, with water featuring on several occasions, most notably at the 3rd, 8th, 15th and 17th.
Highlight holes must include these four water-laden beauties. The short par four 3rd (“Hideaway”), features the first of several large waste bunkers located on the course, and the par three 8th (“Oasis”) plays over a small pond to a green set in a natural bowl.
On the inward half, the right doglegging 15th (“The Drive”) starts out from an elevated tee located forty metres above the fairway and it’s followed a couple of holes later by another downhill cracker at the 17th (“The Monster”) which requires a precise approach shot to a green tucked into the trees.
