Review:

For me the golf course at Skibo did not live up to the billing I was expecting. Very average holes until the 6th, which is a brilliant par 3. The par 4’s at 7 and 8 share a fairway which felt strange and both are only irons from the tee and a flick to the green. The 10th is a decent driving hole and the 18th can be described as dramatic and a strong finishing hole. Overall this is a serious test to handicap but everything else about the course was so disappointing, very very scruffy in places, quality of the greens not so good and just a huge letdown in terms of design. Must add the bunkers were really good but not enough to out-weigh the negatives. I’ve now played over 100 courses on the Top 100 site and this is towards the bottom end. As for the rest of the Skibo experience … castle, food, service, spa, attention to detail – unbeatable, not so the course.
