Skibo Castle - Carnegie Links

Skibo Castle (The Carnegie Links) is a dramatic, immaculately conditioned modern links in a sensational setting.

It’s easy to be mesmerised by such a great panoramic landscape, and not take in the architecture of the course, which, I was guilty of during the round, however on reflection and reviewing the many photographs I took you can really appreciate the beauty and depth of good course design by messrs, Sutherland, Steel and Mackenzie.

This is a private exclusive links course where membership needed to play.

How do you separate out the broader experience from the golf course and what impact should this have on how it is rated?

In the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of playing The Carnegie Club, The Skibo Castle Links, the 99^th course on my quest to complete the Scotland top 100 and as many have said before this was an experience as well as a game on a fine golf course.

Well, after some years of trying without success, it finally happened and it was well worth the wait!

“This is just like millionaire’s golf,” we often say at Chilwell Manor, my home course, when we are the only ones playing.

Skibo Castle was a revelation for our Golf Tour.

I managed to play Skibo Castle with my son during our recent trip to Brora.

If you look past the beauty of the Dornoch Firth and River Evelix setting, you’ll find a rather low-key lie of the land course at Skibo Castle, with modest ground movement.
