Sola (Forus)

Situated close to Stavanger Airport, Sola Golf Klubb was founded in 1992 and it has developed over the years into a National Training Centre for the Norwegian Golf Federation.

The main Forus course has hosted national events like the Norwegian Championships for both junior and adult golfers and the prestigious European Mid-Amateur Championships were also held here in 2011.

In addition to the Forus and Solarstranden 18-hole courses the club offers golfers, a short game area and a double-ended driving range – all that you might expect to find at a national centre for golfing excellence.

A round of golf on the Forus course can be described as “a game of two halves” as the front nine holes are parkland in nature, with generously wide fairways and open space whereas the back nine play into the woods and the holes are a lot longer and tighter.

The 382-metre 6th and the 387-metre 16th are the two toughest par fours on the card, each of them doglegging left to the green. Both nines end in front of the clubhouse, with the 9th and 18th greens perched either side of a threatening water hazard.

European Tour player Eirik Tage Johansen and Christian Helland jointly hold the course record with a score of 65.
