Sola (Solastranden)

Located close to Stavanger airport, Sola Golf Klubb was established in 1992 and it has now become the national training centre for the Norwegian Golf Federation. The main Forus course has hosted a number of elite amateur championships down the years and it’s complemented by the shorter Solastraden course which lies four kilometres away, on the other side of the airport.

Extending to 5,0001 metres and playing to a par of 69 (36 out then 33 in), the Solastraden layout is configured as two returning nines. With only one par five and four par threes on the back nine this circuit plays 550 metres shorter than the outward half. Water comes into play in the shape of small ponds next to the green at the par four 2nd, par five 6th and par four 15th.

Feature holes include the left doglegging 6th; back-to-back par threes at the 13th and 14th; the narrow 343-metre 16th (rated stroke index 2) with a large bunker protecting the front left of the green; and the short par four 18th which offers a decent chance of ending the round with a birdie.
