Soldier Hollow (Silver)

Soldier Hollow, part of Wasatch Mountain State Park on the outskirts of Salt Lake City, hosted competition during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Commemorating the park’s role in the games, the two municipal golf courses at the facility were named “Gold” and “Silver.” Both were designed by Gene Bates with the Silver course featuring wider fairways and a less penal demeanor to create an enjoyable experience for any golfer.

While the Silver course might be a more approachable design, the strategy is still out there for the better golfer to go shoot a good score. The terrain is also more subdued than its big brother and has less penal native areas for those wayward teeshots.
Featuring a 6-6-6 layout, the course gives plenty of opportunity for birdies on the par-5’s including the quality finishers on each nine hole loop. Despite the mountainous surroundings, the Silver course is an enjoyable routing to walk as you work down and back up the sloped site. The two nine hole loops are actually nested within each other with the front nine sitting inside the back nine.
