Sorknes
Measuring 6,715 yards from the back markers, the 18-hole course at Sorknes Golf Club lies within a beautiful pine forest in the valley of Osterdalen, just to the north of where the small town of Rena sits at the meeting point of the Glomma and Rena rivers.
In a mountainous and heavily wooded area (used extensively for special forces training by the Norwegian army) it’s no surprise to learn that the course is laid out on hilly terrain with trees framing every single hole.
The first nine at Sorknes were ready for play in 1992 with the course completed four years later when an additional nine holes were added. Water features at three of the four short holes on the card (at 4, 13 and 17) and the finishing hole at 18 has a stream running all the way down the left of the fairway from tee to green.
