Soufflenheim

At Golfclub International Soufflenheim Baden-Baden are the courses that Bernhard Langer created in the heart of Alsace and, rather like its Alsation viniculture, Soufflenheim is unique with 33 holes spread across three courses.

Langer designed all three layouts at the 140-hectare Soufflenheim complex and the main 18-hole championship standard course is technically challenging with numerous strategically placed bunkers and plenty of water, which comes into play on no fewer than fourteen holes.

A very demanding track from the back tees, the course concludes with a couple of really testing par fours, each of which measures over 425 yards.

Hole 17 doglegs to the right and lakes have to be avoided on either side of the fairway between tee and green. Then at the last, where tee shots require a 140-yard forced carry across water, the fairway doglegs left to a green guarded by water to the front right hand side of the putting surface – little wonder these closing holes are rated stroke index 4 and 2.
