Located a short drive to the south of the Las Vegas Strip, Southern Highlands Golf Club is one of the few co-designed courses ever laid out by the Trent Jones father and son architectural team and its fairways are set within one of the most exclusive residential communities in Nevada.

Frequented by Holywood stars, sports personalities and a variety of multi millionaires, including billionaire casino developer Steve Wynn, Southern Hills Golf Club is limited to only 360 members, all of whom have been invited to join. Needless to say, unless you are acquainted with a top Vegas celebrity, you can forget about ever stepping onto the Southern Highlands fairways.

Two of the best holes on the scorecard are played at the very end of the round here. The par four 16th and par five 18th have split fairways, with the former divided by a waste area and the latter separated by a creek that runs towards the green. Both holes offer golfers a choice of safe or difficult drive, with the reward of an easier approach for taking on the tee shot with the higher degree of difficulty.

If you were ever offered an invitation to tee it up here, you might have to decide whether ornate waterfalls, multitudinous flower gardens, enormous bunker complexes and extensive cart pavements complement the golf course architecture.

I'm a member at SoHi and it's the hardest course in Las Vegas. Pine-Tree lined holes remind of Pinehurst. Fabulous view of the Strip. Tricky, fast greens. Well placed traps and water hazards guide you around. Fairways generous -- just don't miss them. Pro-V1s on the massive practice range. Enlightened ownership and staff. This is a place for hardcore golfers who aren't afraid to take a beating if the game is off.

This is a fantastic property. I am not sure what the previous review was needing. The course is spectaular and has several memorable holes 9, 11, 17 & 18 are good holes and very scenic. Course was in great shape, fairways were absouletly perfect. It reminded me of Shadow Creek but more player friendly. If you know the right person, play this course.

Played here twice three years ago in US Open Qualifier. This course is nothing more than an average at best course with a little spice thrown in. The only thing this course has going for it are the million dollar homes which surround most holes. The rough is thick and penal, the greens are super fast, and the fairways are nearly flawless so the club has course conditioning down pat but the designer forgot to build a course as memorable and as "stand out" as Las Vegas, baby! This course would not crack my Top 10 in Las Vegas. Can you say not worth it baby?
