Southern Highlands
Las Vegas, Nevada- Address1 Robert Trent Jones Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89141, USA
Located a short drive to the south of the Las Vegas Strip, Southern Highlands Golf Club is one of the few co-designed courses ever laid out by the Trent Jones father and son architectural team and its fairways are set within one of the most exclusive residential communities in Nevada.
Frequented by Holywood stars, sports personalities and a variety of multi millionaires, including billionaire casino developer Steve Wynn, Southern Hills Golf Club is limited to only 360 members, all of whom have been invited to join. Needless to say, unless you are acquainted with a top Vegas celebrity, you can forget about ever stepping onto the Southern Highlands fairways.
Two of the best holes on the scorecard are played at the very end of the round here. The par four 16th and par five 18th have split fairways, with the former divided by a waste area and the latter separated by a creek that runs towards the green. Both holes offer golfers a choice of safe or difficult drive, with the reward of an easier approach for taking on the tee shot with the higher degree of difficulty.
If you were ever offered an invitation to tee it up here, you might have to decide whether ornate waterfalls, multitudinous flower gardens, enormous bunker complexes and extensive cart pavements complement the golf course architecture.
