Southern Trace
Shreveport, Louisiana- Address200 Southern Trace Pkwy, Shreveport, LA 71106, USA
The Arthur Hills-designed golf course at Southern Trace Country Club is a late 1980s vintage with fairways spanning a variety of landscapes, from pine valleys through open meadow to oak woods.
“Southern Trace stands among the top courses in northern Louisiana,” remarked Daniel Wexler in The American Private Golf Club Guide, “usually ranking only behind Tom Fazio’s Squire Creek in the eyes of most…While the front nine is the layout’s easier half, it also features the club’s most memorable hole, the 534-yard 8th, an imposing three-shotter with a creek slashing across the fairway and a shallow green angled outward into a pond.”
In July 2020 it was announced that Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, would oversee golf at Southern Trace, replacing the former management company, ClubCorp.
“Southern Trace Country Club is a beautiful property and has long been considered one of Louisiana’s top clubs,” said Rob DeMore, president, Troon Privé. “We’re excited to be on board and will immediately look to improve agronomic conditions, raise service levels and further enhance the member experience.”

Arthur Hills started playing golf when he was seven. He lived just across the railroad tracks from Ottawa Park municipal course in Toledo, Ohio, where he could play golf for 26 cents before noon.
