Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club

Having recently joined as a country member, I have really enjoyed getting to know the course at S&A and experiencing the brilliant hospitality, warmness from fellow members and a great course which is an easy walk but a hard test with variety, beauty, subtlety and pure links delight.

Hidden amongst so many exceptional courses in the area, S&A holds its own as a very good golf course.

Southport & Ainsdale is an excellent golf course… perhaps overshadowed by its neighbors Royal Birkdale and Hillside… I thoroughly enjoyed my round there on July 28, 2025… went out late on a Monday afternoon as a single… was able to take my time and enjoy every hole… highly recommend S&A to anyone who has the opportunity.

A hidden gem in land of giants is what Southport & Ainsdale is all about.

Southport & Ainsdale may not get the attention it's near neighbours of Royal Birkdale and Hillside do, and it's ranking position in GB&I would back this up, but don't be fooled into thinking it's an inferior offering as a result.

Southport & Ainsdale is a fine old links.

The course is situated in gorgeous hilly dunes, with sweeping rough and isolated trees that give the terrain nice contours.

Embarking on my first golf round of the year at the illustrious Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club is akin to the opening pages of a novel that has been patiently waiting on the shelf.

A picturesque links-style golf course, nestled alongside Royal Birkdale, Hillside, and Royal Liverpool.

A great test on England's Golf Coast

I really, really enjoyed this course, even after staring eight over through six holes.
