There is a lot to like about the Old Links at St Annes with its open and flat aspect, fast running fairways, true greens and exposure to the prevailing coastal winds coming off the Irish Sea.

Turning up with the forecast looking very grim and not looking like a good day for golf.

The course played well.A wet and windy day which caused a tough day on the course. The greens tees and fairways played well. If you drove the ball well you could score. It definitely penalised when being wayward.

25mph wind so I’m happy the ball stops where you land it because it’s mainly flat but you have to avoid bunkers off the tee and the greens are well guarded.
