St Arild

The small holiday resort of Arild lies on the northern side of the Kullen peninsula and the natural beauty of its location has attracted the likes of artists and painters to the bay of Skälderviken since the start of the 20th century.

In the mid 1980s, a number of members from the nearby golf club at Mölle decided to build a new course on less hilly terrain to the south of Arild and so, after land was acquired and planning permission granted, Jan Sederholm was enlisted to design a contemporary parkland course for the new club membership.

The course has since been stretched to 6,956 yards and it’s laid out over a gently rolling landscape with relatively wide fairways winding their way around several small ponds and stands of trees in a configuration that allows two sets of nine holes to each return to the clubhouse.

Most of the par four and par five holes are doglegged and the majority of these are shaped from right to left, suiting golfers who can draw the ball. The 357-yard par four 15th is a feature hole at Saint Arild where the approach shot must carry a substantial body of water to reach the green.
