St Austell

St Austell Golf Club was established in 1911 however it was three years later prior to an 18-hole course introduced. James Braid visited in November 1926 to offer advice on improvements to the course, however it took over 10 years for his plans to be realized The new layout was completed beginning on September 25, 1937.

In the middle of the 1970s, more space was made available near the 18th and 16th holes, which allowed the club to construct five holes (8th to 12th) and build four new greens as well as five new teeing areas which increased the total distance of the course from 5,600 yards to just under 6000 yards.

Highlight holes on a tiny estate that is just 85 acres. This includes the sole hole on the course that's a par 5 at 517 yards which is where the fairway curves slightly left before descending to a small circular green that is free of bunkers.

Another hole that is memorable is the par four that's long and sweeping thirteenth (rated as stroke index 1.) The 13th hole is one of the five par fours in succession on the inside, when the fairway curves slightly to the left, leading to an extremely long and narrow green that is free of hazards in the sand.
