St Thomas, also known as Union by its members, is a Stanley Thompson design, with the help of Robbie Robinson and Ian Andrew. With Robinsons focus on the valley holes around the creek they seem to be the favourites of many members! The course is a true park style and has been routed perfectly to flow with the topography. Holes 1-3 start you off with a good test and likely determine the fate of your front 9. Hole 2 is a very challenging par 4 with a tough green complex at the bottom of a slope, the best play for the higher handicap is to land short of the ridge and let the ball roll down the hill to the green. Hole 3 is a beautiful and challenging par 4 where you have the creek cutting off 2 parts of the fairway so you have to make the choice of going for it or laying up before the creek on your second shot! As you make your way out of the valley you see a lot more of the Stanley Thompson touches. St. Thomas is a very fun and enjoyable walk throughout the hilly topography and makes for an incredibly fun round. The tee decks allow for players of all handicaps to score whilst enjoying every moment of the round. Ian Andrew’s work on the course was done to make the two styles of the two architects flow magnificently together and create a top 25 golf course in the country for years to come ! St. Thomas is a wonderful experience and a big piece of Canadian golf history
