Stoke Rochford Golf Club was founded in 1924 with a 9-hole course which WH Aitken modified five years later. SV Hotchkin then fashioned a new 18-hole layout in 1935, removing two holes previously played in front of Stoke Rochford Hall.

Stoke Rochford is a testing and enjoyable course set in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and overlooking the grand Stoke Rochford Hall.
Most impressive for me was the great variety of holes at Stoke Rochford, many of which left a lasting impression on me, and I recall every hole I played months after. There are long, testing par 4s with well placed bunkers such as the 481yd 4th, as well as tempting short par 4s with significant risk and reward such as the 266yd 13th. This creates a very purposeful layout which never feels as if it drags too long or becomes repetitive.
The setting of the course is at points absolutely stunning; the tee shot at the par 3 17th overlooking the Hall is a good example of that. The charming halfway hut following the long 10th is also a lovely touch.
For me, Stoke Rochford should rank marginally higher on the Lincolnshire County Rankings, as it offers a good test of golf year round, in an idyllic setting.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
