Stourbrige Golf Club was established in 1892, progressing from an initial 9-hole layout on the former Pedmore racecourse to an 18-hole layout in 1909. Not a lot has changed in over a hundred years since then, apart from a re-sequencing of the holes in 2014.

The old 17th became the new 1st, the former 18th became the 2nd then the old 1st became the 3rd and so on, with every hole moving back two in the order of play, so that the new 18th (the old 16th) now finishes in front of the clubhouse, next to the car parks.

The course extends to 6,133 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 69; 35 out and 34 in. There’s only one par five on the outward half at the 542-yard 5th and the front nine finishes with back-to-back par threes at the 182-yard 8th and 147-yard 9th.

On the back nine, the left doglegging 15th is one of the toughest par fours on the scorecard and this hole is followed by something you don’t see too often in the modern era – crossing fairways at the 322-yard 16th and the 394-yard 18th.
