The layout features lots of elevation changes as you meander through mature tree-lined fairways. Most of the tee-block areas are raised for a better vantage of the hole. The greens are very large and have plenty of subtle breaks so inside knowledge is imperative if you want to putt well here.

One of my favourite holes is the 14th, a visually pleasing downhill par-5 where the fairway snakes like a serpent. Your approach shot needs to avoid the three bunkers that arc around the back and right side of the green and the left and front features a large swale that will funnel missed shots away from the putting surface.

The conditioning here is impeccable. This is another fine example of how Thompson designs have stood the test of time.
