Sundre

Located halfway between Calgary and Red Deer, the fairways at Sundre Golf Club first opened for play in 1964. Acquired by Totem Golf in 2008, the course was immediately upgraded, resulting in a layout with more forgiving fairways and larger greens.

Nowadays, the layout extends to just under 6,800 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Due to the confines of the property, nearly all the fairways are orientated along a north-south axis, apart from the short par four 18th.

Highlight holes include the par four 3rd and 6th on the front nine, where the greens on both holes are protected by water. On the back nine, the last of the par fives at the 15th (rated stroke index 2) features a pond in the fairway, prompting a decision on whether to carry it to the green or lay up short.
