Sungai Long
Kajang, Selangor- AddressBandar Sungai long, 11 1/4 MIles, Jalan Cheras, 43000 Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia
The course at Sungai Long Golf & Country Club lies a short distance from downtown Kuala Lumpur within a modern township community established by the Sin Heap Lee Group of real estate developers in partnership with the Japanese Marubeni Corporation.
When it debuted in 1993, it was the first Nicklaus Signature course to open in Malaysia (two others would follow; Borneo in 1995 and Legends in 1997) and it soon established itself as a golfing “Garden of Eden” for the Country Club.
Set within a 160-acre site, the back nine holes are cleverly contained within the routing of a front nine that features stand out holes like “Boomerang,” the 382-yard 6th, which dog legs right to a two-tiered green, and “Waterfall,” the par four 9th, where a creek cuts across the fairway en route to the green.
The signature hole comes late in the round at the 198-yard 17th (“Golden Bear”) where tee shots require a firm strike across one of four lakes on the property to a green that’s circled by sand traps.

Jack Nicklaus will forever be associated with greatness on the golf course, but it’s his design work that should also be remembered in equal measure to his magnificent competitive achievements on the links.
