Larry Packard led a lengthy career in the field of golf course design The club located at Sunset Hills was among the first courses to be built on the list. While it does not represent Illinois it's members are more likely to be supportive of the Cardinals rather than rivals from the division, those of the Chicago Cubs, as this course is situated within the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Numerous names have walked through the property over half a century after Packard to make their mark on the course that you currently play on, but. This is the case for Gary Ron Kern and Gary Ron Kern, but Keith Foster's contributions are the most convincing. The architect is well-known for his work in restoring "Golden Age" courses. He also utilized that backdrop to remodel Sunset Hills in a style more in line with the style of bunker and green-shaping.
Although the past is always in mind, the more modern architects have been working to ensure the club's integrity by extending it to 6,800 yards away from the tips.
