Swan Lake (Black)
The Swan Lake Resort in northern Indiana lies within easy striking distance of Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis so it’s the ideal place to have the United States Golf Academy on site, so near to such a large centre of the population.
Swan Lake has a variety of accommodation - from apartment rooms to cottages and log cabins - and the resort offers all the usual sporting facilities such as tennis, swimming pools and spa, along with its two championship 18-hole golf courses, the Black and the Silver.
Both courses (formerly called the West and the East) were designed by Al Humphrey in the late 1960’s and he incorporated water hazards in the form of ponds and creeks into many of the holes on the property.
The four nines were shuffled around at Swan Lake in 2009 with the back nine of the old East and West combining to form an even more challenging layout on a reconfigured Black course.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
