T Golf Calvia
T Golf Calvia is located west of Palma, close to Magaluf and opened in 1978 as Golf de Poniente. The facility owes its current name to German entrepreneur Heiner Tamsen, who took it over in 2015 and soon started a very ambitious rebuild including re-shaped tees, fairways and greens to a much higher specification, designed to cope with the recycled wastewater which is the main water source for golf courses on Mallorca. The totally revamped course reopened in 2018.
T Golf Calvia differs from other high-end courses on Mallorca with its generous fairways, greens open at the front and ponds and bunkers mainly serving as lateral hazards rather than directly in the line of play. This means that it is not only playable but also enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. It is quite long, 6450 meters from the back white tees and 5195 from the front red tees, but shorter hitters can still get close to the pin with rolling approaches from further away on most greens. The winning score was only 8 under par over 72 holes when the Challenge Tour Grand Final was held here in 2021, which shows that it can also be set up to test the best players.
The two nine-hole loops both visit the flatter ground across the little road (holes 2-5 and 11-13) as well as the main part of the property on the clubhouse side, which has more elevation. There are great views over the Tramuntana mountains in the distance from the 8th and the 18th tees. The routing still flows smoothly with small distances between holes, so the course can be enjoyed without a buggy, except perhaps in the hottest months of the year.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
