Located an hour’s drive east of Kamloops, on the northern shores of Little Shuswap Lake, the Talking Rock Golf Resort is a new millennium development on the Little Shuswap Indian Band Reserve that offers visitors the chance to golf in a wonderfully natural setting and sample some Native Indian cuisine in The Quaaout Lodge.
Opened to the public in 2007, this Graham Cooke design winds its way through heavily forested terrain, culminating in a terrific 18th home hole that runs back to the lodge along the edge of the lake. Golfers needn’t worry about intrusive housing here as fairways rise and fall across a gently undulating landscape in complete isolation from the outside world.
On the front nine, feature holes include the 8th and 9th, which lie on either side of an attractive pond whilst on the inward half, the 15th is a contender for signature hole on the property. Golfers play this wonderful par three from an elevated tee position, taking aim at a heavily sand-protected green that’s perched on the hillside overlooking the lake.
