On the west coast of Mauritius lies the tropical golf club of Tamarina. The surrounding hills reminded me of Kauai, the grass of my Florida lawn. The main issue at this course is maintenance. In summer (February 2024) it turned into swamp golf. The course itself is an adventure, a discovery in the jungle. Some holes are easy, some are almost unplayable. The course starts off slow, 1 is a good warm-up. The par 5 fifth is quriky. Number 11 was my favorite hole- many options for disaster are available. But overall it felt as if just enough trees in the forest were cut to build a golf course. I thought this endless green monster was a bit bland.
Due to the simple green complexes and overall blandness I would rank this course in the bottom third on the island, certainly not higher than Mont Choisy.
