Tankersley Park

Occupying around 125 acres of a moorland property which is characterized by remnants of coal and ironstone mining spoil, the course at Tankersley Park Golf Club was inaugurated in 1907.

Seventeen years later, the original layout was extended by local professional Arthur Storey, who routed eighteen holes around the waste areas left behind by the pioneers of the Yorkshire coal and steel industry.

Today, the course extends to 6,215 yards from the back markers, with a par rating of 70 (35 out then 35 in). There’s only one par five on the card at the right doglegging 4th and one par three on the back nine, at the 164-yard 12th.

Others highlights include the first of the par threes at the 3rd (with a bunker left and right of the green); the long par four 8th (with out of bounds to the right of the fairway); and the testing par four finishing hole, rated stroke index 4.
