The course is a formidable design from Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, with holes carefully routed around a sand-laden 90-acre site. Fescue tees, fairways and greens occupy a wonderful coastal property – indeed, the closing holes on each nine (6 to 9 and 15 to 18) are spectacularly positioned right on the Pacific Ocean.
Highlights here include short par fours at the 3rd, 6th and 16th, along with a couple of spectacular par threes at the 157-yard 5th and 195-yard 12th. Best of the par fives are the right doglegging 7th and left veering 18th, though mentioning any of these seven holes ahead of all the others is really splitting hairs as all eighteen are spectacular.
