If your idea of fun is booming big drives down wide open manicured fairways then head for The Oxfordshire or Celtic Manor - Tenby is a thinking man's course. A true links - rock hard greens and fairways - you need a fabulous short game to make a score here. The start is very tough with the 3rd and 4th truly great par fours. 10 and 11 are also great and the short 12th is very similar to the 12th at Ballybunion. The course is not long (but then I'm not John Daly) but is a test of strategy and skill. If, like me, you were brought up on Big Jack winning at St Andrews you'll love it. If you're one of these corporate golf day types who started playing at 28 to impress the boss then set the SatNav in your BMW for Woburn and buy a pair of branded shorts for £180.
