The Home Course
Owned and operated by the Washington State Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association, the Home Course is a Mike Asmundson design located on the site of DuPont’s former dynamite manufacturing plant, close to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Configured as two returning 9-hole circuits, the DuPont Nine and the Weyerhaeuser Nine, the course can be extended to 7,474 yards from the back tees. With a pond fronting the green on the 434-yard 7th (“Rainer”), this is the toughest hole on the outward half. On the back nine, the 466-yard 13th (“Head Wind”) is another monster par four, normally played into the prevailing breeze.
The Home Course was the site of two stroke-play qualifying rounds for the 2010 U.S. Amateur when Chambers Bay hosted the finals. The course also staged the 38th and last edition of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in 2014, when Fumie Jo from China became the sixth overseas winner of the event, defeating Eun Jeong Seong from South Korea 3&2 in the 36-hole final match.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
