Laid out on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, the Ironstone and Granite nines at The Quarry may form what many regard as the championship 18-hole layout but don’t underestimate the Slate nine on this modern Les Furber design.

The Quarry (Ironstone & Granite)

The 27-hole golf facility at The Quarry lies on the floodplain of the meandering North Saskatchewan Rive, not far from downtown Edmonton. Holes are laid out in three returning loops named Ironstone, Granite and Slate with the former two circuits regarded as the premier 18-hole layout.

Highlight holes on the Ironstone nine include the 420-yard 1st, with water lurking to the left of the green, and the 354-yard 3rd, where ponds on either side of a narrowing fairway require players to fully focus on their tee shot. The 436-yard 9th then doglegs left around a large lake in front of the clubhouse.

Water remains the dominant theme on the Granite nine, with aquatic challenges on each of the first three holes. The par five 7th plays along the opposite side of the long lake that flanks the par five 2nd before this loop ends on the other side of the lake separating the Granite 9th from the Ironside nine.
