The Summit Club

Developed by the Discovery Land Company and The Howard Hughes Corporation and designed by Tom Fazio, the 18-hole layout at The Summit Club lies less than ten miles from the Las Vegas Strip, anchoring a 555-acre private residential resort community next to the Red Rock National Conservation Area.

The layout isn’t really a typical desert course; instead, it’s more lush parkland with a desert background, which tells you there’s plenty of irrigated grass to be found on this layout. There are also five sets of tees, giving it a high playability factor for a wide range of golfers.

From the elevated tees and raised greens there are long views of Las Vegas below while, in the opposite direction, there are mountain peaks and mesas contrasting against the emerald turf and brilliant white bunker sand on the golf course.

The downhill par four opening hole eases players into the round and there are many memorable holes to come – such as the 235-yard 11th with a long forced carry off the tee – before arriving at the testing par five 18th hole, rated stroke index 2 on the card.

There’s also an extra par three 19th hole next to the practice area where tied matches can be resolved before any on-course bets are settled. Of course, golfers might also choose to play it because they want their game to last just that little bit longer before departing.
