Thermen Fürstenfeld-Loipersdorf (Yellow & Red)
Located an hour’s drive from Graz, the golf facility at Thermengolf Fürstenfeld-Loipersdorf started out with an 18-hole course in 1990 but, due to increased demand, another nine holes were added ten years later when Hans-Georg Erhardt redesigned the layout.
The Yellow and Red nines now comprise the 18-hole course of first choice, stretching to 6,253 metres from the rear markers, with holes arranged as returning nines, each of which conclude with a challenging par five. Water hazards feature at several holes, most notably between holes #7 and #8 on the Yellow then between holes #11 and #15 on the Red.
Highlight holes include short par fours at the right doglegging 288-metre 8th on the front nine and the left doglegging 318-metre 11th on the back nine, along with the really tough par three 15th which plays to a tiny green that’s fronted by a large bunker then further fortified by water to the front, left and back of the putting surface.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
