Thornblade
Thornblade is a modern golf and country club located in the Greenville region of South Carolina, tucked in the more mountainous portion of the state. Tom Fazio set out a course that measures just beyond 7,000 yards from the back tees.
The front portion of the course is dominated by Brushy Creek, which comes into play on eight holes. Among them is No. 8, a 433-yard par four where the pin placement on this wide green will influence both where the player tees off to for the ideal angle, as well as whether they choose to attack that flag; the left side of the green borders on the water. The second nine plays along terrain more defined by the foothills of the property, with water coming into play less frequently than on the front.
The back tees at the club are named the “Haas” tees after professionals Jay Haas and son Bill, the 2011 PGA Tour Championship winner, who are Greenville residents. Jay was a founding member of the club and continues his commitment to the course as the presiding Director of Golf.
