Andy twice nominated Tower Links Golf Club as a Gem, so we added it to the Top 100 website on 3rd January 2011… over to Andy:
“What a wonderful club this is, set in the smallest and most laid back of the Emirates. Simon Payne the professional is extremely welcoming and could not have done more to ensure our group was well looked after by his staff. The range is not up to the standard of many of the top courses out here, however the course is well up there with the best.
Billed as a links course possibly due to the serious amount of water hazards around the course it presents a great challenge for even the very lowest of handicap golfers. Every hole requires some thought, with club selection key to finding the right position in the fairway to attack the pin. Blind tee shots, well-protected greens and subtly placed mangrove trees penalise those who do not put their ball in the right place.
The greens are well designed with numerous undulations and tricky breaks to negotiate.
The 18th is a wonderful example of a great finishing hole with a good drive leaving a mid fairway iron into a tricky green surrounded by water. Many a good card will come a cropper here. The back nine are also floodlit enabling you to take advantage of the course in the hot summer months. I will definitely be visiting again.”
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
