English golf course architect Jeremy Pern – resident for a number of years now in Toulouse, south west France – has over thirty courses to his name throughout Europe and in 2005 he added Toya in Lower Silesia to his considerable portfolio.

Toya Golf & Country Club is situated to the north of Wroclaw city center and both members and visiting golfers have the option of warming up either on the driving range or a short 9-hole layout before tackling the 18-hole championship course.

The holes are laid out on a former military training ground and it is alleged that, in addition to moving earth to add some definition to a largely level, featureless tract of land, the architect retained some old bomb blast and tank trap indentations to create a rather unique golfing landscape!

Apart from the closing holes on each nine, water comes into play at holes 5 to 7 and between the 13th and 16th holes – this stretch of holes on the inward half also winds its way through a residential housing development at the most southerly position on the property.

I have played the course this July and have to admit its a great value for money. Its set on the former firing/artillery range thus is utilizing the natural contours of terrain. Apart from 2-3 holes, it has a natural "linksy" character and can be brutal when windy. I have played several courses in Poland incl., Binowo, Amber Baltic, Krakow Valley, Sierra and Mazury GC, and have to admit that Toya has the most elegant and spacious golf club and is in great condition - but would not call it the best in Poland. Its definitely very good and worth the visit. I give it a good, only because my opinion is based on playing some of the best courses in the World and in that company Toya is a solid Good.

Probably the best golf course in Poland and in this part of Europe. Great design, high quality standard. Still very fresh but within few years it will be one of the greatest golf courses in Europe. It is pleasure to play this course.
