I had such high expectations for TPC Sawgrass and it exceeded them.
TPC Sawgrass is my favorite course I've played in the United States. I knew exactly what to do on every hole from seeing it on TV and still had some of the most fun I've ever had on a course. Pete Dye is so good at visual intimidation, because the course really is playable in my opinion (as long as you avoid the water).
The routing is spectacular as are the playing conditions. The par 4 4th is one of the best non-drivable short par 4s I've played. The collection of par 5s is the best quartet I've played, all of which are reachable in two but also contain immense danger. Obviously 16,17,18 are the stars of the show and they exceed the hype. Coming off 15 green, your heart starts beating a little fast, but it's not until you crest the fairway on 16, it really starts pounding. 17 is so much fun with the anticipation while your ball is in the air and once it safely hits the green, you just breath a big sigh of relief. 18 is so tough, but such a good hole. If you hit a good drive, it's gettable, but bail out and your fighting for par. It's a perfect finishing stretch.
It is very expensive, but worth it to experience once in your life.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
