Tradition Golf Club
Located close to Palm Desert in the Coachella Valley, the Tradition Golf Club property was originally developed at the start of the 20th century as Marshall’s Cove before it was sold to oil and real estate businessman William Rosecrans.
He transformed the grounds into the Hacienda del Gato, a family retreat frequented by Holywood stars and White House politicians in the 1950s and 1960s, and a link to this glittering past still remains as the gates of the old estate stand protected, close to the 3rd hole on the golf course.
Today, Tradition Club is an invitation-only member golf club with its course nestled inside a beautifully landscaped upmarket residential development just outside La Quinta. First opened for play in 1997, the course was designed by Ed Seay and Arnold Palmer.
Routed in an out-and-back style, the fairways weave their way around the confines of a private desert community, with the back nine climbing into the foothills that enclose the valley. Feature holes include par fours at the double greened 7th and the 340-yard 17th, which drops more than 200 feet from tee to green.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
