I was on tour here so stayed in the accommodation and use the facilities. So to start with it is a lovely little complex with a relaxed country club feel and very friendly staff. The food was also fantastic. The golf course is a great open links course built on a large tract of land with a wonderful selection of dunes and views. Off the whites and yellows it is pretty forgiving off the tee. They keep the rough mostly well back and rely on length and bunkers to protect the course. However you can tell they could make this coarse as tough as they wanted to. To their credit they just make it great fun to play. They famously lost their greens last year after an accidental poisoning incident and you can tell they are just getting them back as they were not as good as you would expect. Personally though I would go back any time. I also have a theory that if this had a train station near by they would use this as an open venue ..... not because it is some tough monster but because it has the space the viewing areas and the ability to make it anything they wanted. The other thing is I can't think of a really weak part to the coarse just a really good variety of holes just as you would imagine from any Colt course.
