Review for Troia

Reviewer Score:

We played yesterday en route from the Algarve to Sesimbra and really enjoyed our game. Nice low key club, with some nice sea views early and late on, good upkeep and in parts linksy turf and greens and artfully deployed waste areas. Reminded me a little of the middle of Formby for its tree lined links holes. The 17th is a delightful par 3 that felt like being in Devon or Cornwall. I do wish RTJ had left more holes with ground options - it's frustrating as a first time player when a truly hit tee shot is partially blocked by a tree and you can't run the ball up instead. They could get rid of some bunkers and trees too to emphasise the simple beauty of the setting. The course is compact thus a bit samey for a top rating, but it's challenging, good golf and a memorable day when combined with the ferry trip.
