With friends in from Arizona for the summer, I had the first real excuse to play Trump Ferry Point this week.

I had never played a Nicklaus designed golf course, and I had never played a Trump managed golf course. Not surprising, it played very hard - both the tucked bunkers into many greens, and the very tough rough around the greens. The fescue is nuts. That said, the course is very wide on probably 15 holes, but the fescue is one stroke local rule lateral hazard. Never my favorite, but needed for sure. I don’t think I found ANY balls in the fescue. 

But it is very fun in a hard way. I commented to my friends after the round how little we spoke, because you really need to concentrate. 

Played it from the 6050 tees, and the 6400 tees would have been brutal with hybrids into so many greens with tucked sand traps. It is not links conditioning, so it plays long. I walked it in the heat, and it is a nice walk, it was just hot today. It gets a nice breeze, but I was wiped out for sure. Pace of play was perfect for 15 holes, and just a tiny bit backed on the last three holes. 

The clubhouse, food, and staff were very nice. It was surprisingly NOT over the top. Enjoy.
