Trump National - Charlotte
The Trump Golf group has used a number of architects over the years, but Tom Fazio’s name has appeared on more Trump courses than anyone's. Fortunately for Greg Norman, Trump Charlotte does not sit on Lake Fazio! The course sits on a peninsula that juts out into the coincidentally-named Lake Norman and, accordingly, players can expect that body of water to provide heroic-school hazards during much of the round.
Half of the holes will require a forced carry of lake inlets, and unfortunately for you, few of those forced carries are off the tee. Players aiming to score at this club will need to carefully consider going for the green after a questionable tee shot. The most interesting is No. 16, a par five that offers different routes, depending on how confident you feel. Those feeling risk-averse after losing a few balls throughout the round can opt to take the three-shot route. Those still feeling bold can go for the green, which sits alone on a small peninsula, fronted by the lake.
Other holes, not carrying the lake, still sit alongside the shore, again punishing poor control. And those without water? Tighter fairways are guarded by looming trees.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
