This is almost an amazing golf course worth 5.

It never really got there, maybe because the turf conditions stayed soft and never firmed with maturity, maybe because the elevations, sidehill and uphill lies are so severe and balls tend to rest of them instead of running off (soft turf conditions). I had no idea that Pine Valley was so close by until about half way through the round but the course has many holes that will give you a Pine Valley vibe. The course keeps your attention throughout and is a really good challenge and the conditions are impeccable as you would expect.

This is a big course. The conditions are superb. The green complexes fantastic. There is more golf here than most anyone can deal with. The length is deep and the turf predominantly will play spongy. There are some truly fabulous holes here. Drop everything if you get an invite. It's a joy to play.

Many might wonder given Trump National GC Philadelphia's close proximity to the iconic Pine Valley if the Tom Fazio design has qualities of a comparable sort?

The answer is no. That's not to say the layout is lacking overall. The design is done well with holes slotted through the beauty of the NJ pinelands.
