I played Tytherington on a lovely sunny day as part of a Society which was inaugurated 20 years previousy at this very course.

A good parkland course in lovely countryside ideal for Societies with a friendly club, and some easier but also some very tough holes particularly at the end of the round which gave a very exciting finish to our singles competition.

On the day that we were there one of the holes was shortened to a par 3 in order to provide a very popular, fun place for kids to experience golf for the first time. Bravo !

I am a member at Tytherington and very proud of it, one of the best in The Club Company and with out a shadow of a doubt, the best course in the area. This course has some challenging holes such as the 2nd, 9th, 10th, 12th, 14th and 16th which offer some difficult dog legs. The long par 4 start is a great way to kick things off and is one of my favourite holes in Cheshire. The Greens staff work exceedingly hard and should be congratulated for their work, for December I have never seen greens in better condition, although winter rules may be in play, despite drainage issues in places, temporary greens are non-existent, the work they've done has prevented the need for them. Don't go out of your way to play local courses such as Mottram and Prestbury, Mottram in particular is in no way a test of golf and the front 9 is essentially a pitch and putt for a low handicapper. Try Tytherington, your golf will be tested!

It must be Panto season……or too much Mulled wine? Or I get it, you've been promised free membership? 6-balls rating, the same as some of the iconic courses in the UK. You’re having a laugh or on the wind up. This course is a 4 ball rating at best (some would argue 3-balls). If it was that good why hasn't it featured on other respected course review panels? I certainly wouldn't play it before Prestbury or Stockport. I'm not rubbishing the course, played in the right time of year then it can give a pleasant experience and offers a modern approach off course which is fine by me but please use this forum sensibly. It clearly doesn't not compare to what are justified 6-ball ratings.
I have played The Tytherington a few times this year. The course is fantastic, a great layout and in very good condition each time I’ve played it. The atmosphere around the club house is relaxed making it a great day out!

Played in an am am today and the course did not live up to my expectation. Whilst the course itself was a reasonable test and well designed (the greens being particularly well conditioned, if a little slow for a hot June), the state of the course in general and especially the bunkers left a lot to desire. It would appear that the "championship status", may have slipped a little.

The Tytherington is a tough test of golf for players of all abilities. There are plenty of hazards to punish stray shots. Every hole is individual and is enjoyable for all.
