Laid out in two returning loops of nine, the University Ridge Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones Junior layout that has challenged golfers in the Madison area for more than two decades now. Both the University of Wisconsin men’s and women’s golf teams play their home matches here and the course hosted the NCAA Division I Women’s Championship in 1998.
The more open front nine comprises three par threes, three par fours and three par fives and interestingly, the only time consecutive holes of the same par are played is the par four sequence between the 13th and 15th on the wooded back nine.
Robert Trent Jones Jr. returned in 2008 to lengthen the course from 6,888 to 7,289 yards by adding new tee boxes on fourteen holes. He also upgraded the practice facilities by remodeling the driving range and creating a new three-hole short game area.
