The Club de Golf del uruguay might be the best Golf Club in South America and I am not exagerating with this statement. The facilities including Club House, Tennis, Paddle, Gym , Pool and Indoor Futbol are as good as many private US Courses and if you add a Dr Mackenzie jewel then the statement has a lot of sense.
Located in Downtown Montevideo by the River Plate (looks like The Ocean) and with holes with amazing views plus green complexes that remind of that famous course 2hs from Atlanta GA give it the status of great and I fee it could at list make the World Top 100 excluding US Courses ... It might be short for today standards (like Cypress Point!) with no room for expansion but the greatness of the design, the challenge with tee shots needing both effects and greens that are both fast and tough to read make it one serious must play in South America.
It has some drivable par 4s with today's technology (1st, 4th, 8th, phenomenal 15th and 16th) but it can seriously kill your game if you are not sharp off the tee and your putter is not sharp.
I have the best memories of the course having played it not less than 20 times and it is one I really wish to go back soon. The white big bunkers add a little bit more of ANGC plus very educated Membership make it one course I would be proud of.
Really hope Panelists take the chance of travelling to South America because there are no less than 10 courses worth to be considered as World Top 100 outside US.
Give it also a sharp look to the three par 3s, all of them mid range but the green complex will be the challenge especially on 17th where missing lateral is a sure bogey.
Home of many good players, The Club de Golf del Uruguay is one of those courses that has to be in your Resumee.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
