Vallromanes

Club de Golf Vallromanes is located less than an hour’s drive from Barcelona city centre in Vallès Oriental county, close to the Allela Spanish denominación de origen for wines that are produced in the Maresme region. The course is a Fred W. Hawtree design from the early 1970s, with a clubhouse built in the style of a stately Mediterranean mansion dating back to 1718.

Highlight holes include the par four 3rd (rated stroke index 2, with trees to the left and sand to the right of an angled 3-tier green), the par three 12th (with water front left and right of the green), and the 356-metre 18th, the fourth of five closing holes that dogleg to the left, favouring right handed golfers who can draw the ball of the tee.

The Spanish Open was held here in 1985, when Seve Ballesteros clinched the second of his three victories in that tournament, winning by four shots from runner-up Gordon Brand Jr. Incredibly, despite winning five of the thirty events on the European Tour that year, Seve only finished third in the Order of Merit that season, based on prize money won.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
