Review for Vestfold

Reviewer Score:

Vestfold is one of the courses I try to find time to play at least once every season. It's got a certain charm and is normally in good condition, and there are some interesting holes which keeps me coming back, maybe it's all about getting even with the 4th, a doglegged par four of some 375 meters with a large oak guarding the inside sweep, for whatever reason I always end up behind that bl.. oak, and those occasions when I remember to aim generously away I end up in the outside bunker, oh well one day! The oak is quite pretty so at least there some solace in that. There are a few of those finicky doglegged holes on this course in fact, the 5th where the inside is guarded by a stand of trees, only about 190 from tee, and would leave a tempting short iron in to the green, but, they are quite tall... And then the short curving par four second hole, a long iron to the middle of the fairway is the sensible choice, but every time my longer hitting mates get to this hole, they always pull out the driver, and proceed by overcooking the fade ensuring that they bring in some smallish trees into their line of play of their approach to the green, maybe it's because they feel that a 90 meter wedge is too simple and prefer the additional challenge of having to play over, under or around? Vestfold is all in all a nice acquaintance with interesting and fun holes, in a tranquil setting, so well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.
