The layout was designed by Italian agriculturalist Fulvio Banni, the initial nine-hole course designed by Italian agronomist Fulvio Bani a planned 27-hole course in Viveiro Golf & Country Club was opened in the islands in Sal by 2022. The course is located on a stony site located in the south-east portion of the island the course spans approximately 2,800 meters, and plays up to a par of 35.

"The significant influence of winds, which originates from the northeast, and can be as high as 65 knots, as well as the need to reduce water consumption has led us to design grassy areas for playing that are separated by sand-like sections of coarse," said Bani. The tees are made of paspalum, fairways and greens are enclosed by scrubs of desert.

Highlights here include all three short holes: The tee shot on the 2nd hole, which measures 118 metres (Maio") can most likely play into the left-to-right crosswind. The putting area for the 6th hole, which measures 133 metres ("Brava") can be surrounded by a pond. the hole 192 metres long ("Santa Luzia") is played in a downwind direction from the tee which makes it the most easy to play of the par threes by many golfers.
