Set out within a compact 95-acre site, the course at Waihi extends to 5,695 metres from the rear tees, with par set at 72 (36 out then 36 in). Due to the limited amount of space on the property, all but a few of these narrow holes are oriented along a northeast-southwest axis.
Highlights include the par four 3rd (rated stoke index 1); the 512-metre 7th (longest hole on the card); the par three 15th (last of the short holes); and the par four 18th which ends at a 2-tiered home green guarded by bunkers to the front right and left of the putting surface.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
